What a week we’ve had since my last post – it’s certainly been eventful! We went to Champery in Switzerland to watch the qualifying of the UCI Downhill Mountainbike World Cup in the mud, the next day had the best run of my life and then were involved in a dramatic helicopter rescue from the Petit Balcon Sud yesterday!

I’ve been looking for a training plan for a while now as I need to get in shape for the Swiss Alpine Half Marathon but keep pushing myself too hard and ending up injured. A sensible plan will push me but not too much and will build my fitness and running strength gradually. I want to be able to follow the plan and see results – not just feel results but see them in stats and graphs! (more…)

After increasing my training recently in preparation for France I seem to have developed a couple of injuries. Firstly, I had a niggling hip pain in my left side developed into a sharp pain and made me limp and then just recently I seems to have pulled both my adductor muscles. These are both undoubtedly over training injuries and I should have known better. I have, however learnt a couple of valuable things…

Calling all lady runners!  I recently bought the new running specific Shock Absorber bra and thought you might appreciate a comparison of it with their B109 level 4 sports bra that I’ve been using for years.  Does it do the job and is it worth £10 more? (more…)

 

I’ve been running for about 5 years now and thought I’d pay homage to my long suffering husband for putting up with my strange running habits.  From getting up in the dark, running in the rain and many hours at the gym he’s been there through it all.  He doesn’t even understand running when there’s a perfectly good mountain bike sitting idle in the garage.  I dedicate this article to all non-running partners… (more…)
